Authorized in October 2008, the Maryland Clean Energy Center works to promote economic development and employment in the clean energy industry sector in Maryland (Chapter 137, Acts of 2008). The Center serves to deploy clean energy technology throughout the State; incubate the development of the clean energy industry; collect, analyze, and share clean energy industry data; and provide outreach and technical support for the growth of the clean energy industry in Maryland.
Nine members constitute the Board of Directors. Eight are appointed by the Governor with Senate advice and consent to four-year terms. One serves ex officio. The Board is assisted by the Advisory Committee, and may establish other committees as needed. With the Governor's approval, the Board appoints the Executive Director (Code Economic Development Article, secs. 10-801 through 10-854).
