Under the Fund are five main departments: Claims Services; Finance; Investment; Legal and Human Resources; and Marketing, Strategic Planning, and Business Development.
CLAIMS SERVICES
The Council is comprised of the secretaries of ten State departments, a representative from the Governor's Office, the president of the Injured Workers' Insurance Fund, the Chancellor of the University System of Maryland, and others designated by the Governor.

BOARD FOR THE INJURED WORKERS' INSURANCE FUND
The Board for the Injured Workers' Insurance Fund consists of nine members. They are appointed to five-year terms by the Governor with Senate advice and consent. The Board appoints the Fund President (Code Labor & Employment Article, secs. 10-109 through 10-114).
Claims Services oversees Claims Operations; Fraud Operations; Governmental Affairs; and Health Services.
MARYLAND STATE EMPLOYEE RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
The Maryland State Employee Risk Management Advisory Council started in January 2002, when the Governor formed the Maryland State Employee Risk Management Steering Committee (Executive Order 01.01.2002.01). The Committee reorganized as the Maryland State Employee Risk Management Advisory Council in December 2003 (Executive Order 01.01.2003.51). The Council works with the State Employee Risk Management Administration to share common guidelines, concerns, and ideas; monitor and make recommendations on risk management; and plan new initiatives in risk management.
The Finance Department is responsible for five units: Chief Actuary; Information Systems; Loss Control; Premium Auditing; and Underwriting.
Marketing, Strategic Planning, and Business Development was formed in 2005 when Insurance Operations and Corporate Services and Strategic Planning merged.
