The Maryland Clean Car and Energy Policy Task Force began its work in June 2007 (Chapters 111 & 112, Acts of 2007). To improve Maryland's air quality, the Task Force will review State energy policies and consider ways to develop viable alternative fuels and vehicle efficiency. The Task Force is to study: what neighboring states are doing about vehicle emission standards; regulatory actions taken by California and the federal Environmental Protection Agency relating to vehicle emission standards; and emerging energy technologies.
Authorization for the Task Force extends through December 31, 2010.
