Authorized in July 2006, the Blue Ribbon Commission to Study Retiree Health-Care Funding Options organized in 2007 (Chapter 433, Acts of 2006). The legal obligations of the State to provide retiree health benefits will be studied by the Commission. In addition, the Commission is to hire an actuarial consulting firm to commission an actuarial valuation that shows the State's annual required contribution toward retiree health care.
Authorization for the Commission expires June 30, 2010 (Chapters 228 & 229, Acts of 2008).
